|Adomani Subsidiary Receives First Zero-Emission Electric School Bus Order from Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the Second Largest School District in the Nation|
LAUSD has been able to Leverage Bond and Grant Dollars to Replace More Than 50% of its Diesel Engine School Buses with Cleaner Emission Vehicles and now, Zero-emission Transportation Technology
NEWPORT BEACH, CA / ACCESSWIRE / September 26, 2017 / ADOMANI, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADOM), a provider of advanced zero-emission and hybrid vehicle drivetrain solutions and purpose-built electric vehicles, has announced its wholly-owned, new vehicle distribution focused subsidiary, School Bus Sales of California, Inc., has received a purchase order from LAUSD for its first zero-emission electric 72 seat school bus.
According to LAUSD Transportation information, approximately 41,000 students safely ride LAUSD school buses to and from school each day on their 1300 school bus fleet. The District operates the largest alternative fuel bus fleet in California of 529 compressed natural gas, 100 ultra-low emission and 141 propane buses comprising of nearly 60% of the bus fleet. Through several grant awards from the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), LAUSD has been able to leverage bond and grant dollars to replace more than 50% of its diesel engine school buses with cleaner emission vehicles such as propane and compressed natural gas (CNG) and now, zero-emission electric.
"It is critical that as we replace our aging bus fleet with new safe, energy-efficient, and zero emission school buses, that we also continue to build infrastructures to support our greening efforts," said Office of Educational Services Chief Executive Officer Thelma Melendez according to a June 14th 2017 article by CBS Los Angeles (CBSLA.com). From the same article, "Protecting the health and safety of our students is one of my highest priorities and greening the district's bus fleet reduces students' exposure to harmful diesel exhaust emissions," said Superintendent Michelle King.
"This first zero-emission electric school bus order from LAUSD is nothing less than historic and shows their continued air-quality commitment that clearly benefits students, drivers and the surrounding community," said ADOMANI CEO, Jim Reynolds. "While their current school bus fleet is composed of transition fuels, this move towards zero-emission transportation technology, demonstrates real leadership."
